SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEND Provision (North West London)
Milk Education |Camden
I’m recruiting for a well-established specialist SEND provision in North West London that supports pupils with a broad range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning difficulties, sensory processing differences, SEMH needs, speech and language delays, and additional medical or physical needs.
This setting is known for its highly structured environment, strong therapeutic input, and a calm, consistent approach that helps pupils feel secure, regulated, and able to access learning at their own pace.
We’re looking for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant who brings patience, reliability, and a genuine passion for working with children who require specialist support. The role begins on a day-to-day, term-time basis, with opportunities to transition into long-term or permanent placements.
About the Role:
You’ll be supporting pupils across a range of age groups depending on your experience and suitability. The work involves assisting with personalised learning, communication programmes, sensory regulation strategies, and behaviour support. The school has a very collaborative ethos, with teachers, SEN specialists, and therapists all working closely together.
Key Responsibilities:
* Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with complex and varying SEND
* Using structured strategies such as visual timetables, now/next boards, task sequencing, social stories, and sensory regulation tools
* Supporting communication using PECS, Makaton, or alternative communication systems
* Assisting with sensory needs through movement breaks, environmental adjustments, and individualised sensory programmes
* Helping to deliver adapted learning in literacy, numeracy, life skills, and communication
* Assisting with personal care or mobility support, depending on pupil needs
* Using positive behaviour support to help children manage transitions, anxiety, and emotional regulation
* Working closely with teachers and therapists to follow structured plans and consistent routines
* Upholding safeguarding, professionalism, and pupil wellbeing at all times
This role suits someone who is calm under pressure, confident in SEN environments, and motivated by small but meaningful progress.
