Overview

If you enjoy working with children and have the resilience to deal with challenging behaviours while still being able to offer a caring and supportive therapeutic approach, then we would love to hear from you!

Pebbles Care has an exciting opportunity for you to collaborate with our established team and become an integral part of our children's lives. Your role may vary each working day across a small cluster of homes, with various shift patterns to support holiday or training cover. Our unique cluster roles allow you to enhance your development and enrich your experience by offering varied work and the opportunity to work across diverse teams.


Responsibilities

* Daily home life responsibilities, including driving children to and from school, appointments, and visits (a full UK manual driving license is essential).
* Teach valuable life skills, including meal preparation and household chores, while creating lasting memories through engaging activities, outings, and holidays.


Role details

* Cluster Residential Child Care Worker, employed full-time as a dedicated team member.
* Averaging 56.4 hours per week, including sleep hours.
* Working collaboratively with your team on shift across multiple locations in a cluster of homes within a short journey of each other.
* Provide support tailored to the young person’s needs, either one-to-one or two-to-one.
* Training begins on day one with a comprehensive induction and shadow shifts to learn the Pebbles Way and our therapeutic care model.


Training

During induction and shadow shifts, you will be supported by your manager and our in-house Learning and Development team.


What we offer

* Starting salary of £34,719.00 to £36,248.00 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience.
* Cluster full-time rota: one day on (24 hours, including sleepover) and two days off (48 hours). Salary stated is based on this rota pattern.
* Average weekly hours, including sleepovers: 56.4. Rota depends on home requirements.
* 5.6 weeks annual leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time contracts).
* Opportunity to receive 100% funding for Level 3 SVQ/NVQ in Residential Child Care through our Learning and Development team.

Essential and desirable qualities

* A flexible approach to work patterns and a dedication to safeguarding children and young people.
* A strong desire to obtain qualifications and continue personal development.
* Confident, resilient, kind, and supportive nature with patience and the ability to cultivate non-judgemental relationships.
* Engaged and attentive listener with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficient IT skills and experience with Microsoft packages.
* A full valid UK driver’s license (all homes have manual vehicles).
* Desirable: up to 12 months’ experience with children or young adults; more than 12 months may qualify for higher salary levels.
* Desirable: Working towards or wishing to obtain SCQF Level 7 or Level 3 Diploma related to Children and Young People’s Residential workforce (funding may be available).
* Desirable: Familiarity with Codes of Practice set by regulatory bodies and an existing PVG/DBS certificate.
