Offer description

Company: True North Psychology

Job Role: Associate Neurodiversity-Affirming Diagnostic Assessor

Self-Employed | Flexible / Remote-Hybrid | Adult ADHD, Autism & Combined ADHD & Autism (AuDHD) Assessments

About True North Psychology

True North Psychology is an independent, values-led practice specialising in neuro-affirming

neurodevelopmental assessment and support for adults. Founded by Dr Sara Tookey (PhD,

DClinPsy), we have spent the last five years building a practice that does things differently: with

genuine depth, a holistic approach, and a real sense of community at its heart.

We are proud to have been recognised as Best Neurodiversity-Affirming Mental Healthcare

Provider 2025, and we are growing in the best possible way, which means finding the right people

to grow with us.

Our Approach to Assessment

Our assessments are conducted in line with NICE clinical guidance and draw on both DSM-5 and

ICD criteria. But our approach goes far beyond diagnosis. We believe that for late-identified

adults, a neurodevelopmental assessment is not simply a clinical procedure. It is an opportunity

for meaningful self-understanding and healing.

We offer a supportive, [often therapeutic] assessment process that gives clients the space to

explore where neurodiversity fits in their life: past, present, and future. We take a holistic and

personalised approach, and we do not rush the process.

We do not offer a binary yes/no diagnosis. Instead, we provide compassionate, nuanced

formulations and personalised recommendations that are genuinely useful for the individual going

forward.

Alongside assessment, we offer:

• Direct referrals for ADHD medication assessment and management

• In-house therapeutic support

• Post-diagnostic support to help clients make sense of their experience and next steps

• A wealth of tailored resources

If you have ever felt frustrated by the conveyor-belt model that has become too common in this

space, and you want to work somewhere that holds the bar high with genuine care, compassion

and integrity, this role is for you.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced, neuro-affirming Associate Assessor to join our small and

supportive team. This is an assessment-focused role, working with adults seeking diagnostic

assessment for ADHD, Autism, and/or AuDHD.

This is a self-employed associate position, designed to sit flexibly alongside your existing

professional commitments, with real scope to grow with us over time. The role can be delivered

remotely or in a hybrid format, depending on your preferences and location.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from qualified and experienced professionals, including:

• Occupational Therapists (OT)

• Speech and Language Therapists (SaLT)

• Psychologists (Clinical or Counselling)

You will bring:

• Demonstrable experience conducting adult ADHD, Autism, and/or AuDHD diagnostic

assessments (Use of ADOS here is not essential, though related training can be valuable)

• A genuinely neuro-affirming approach - not just in language, but in practice

• Current registration with your relevant professional body (HCPC, RCOT, RCSLT, or

equivalent)

• Commitment to high standards, integrity, and compassionate care

• Enthusiasm for being part of a collaborative, values-driven remote-working team

✨ Lived experience of Autism, ADHD, or AuDHD is especially welcomed and valued.

We actively encourage applications from neurodiverse practitioners.

What You Will Get

Joining True North Psychology means becoming part of a practice that genuinely invests in its

people. Associates have access to:

✔ Clinical Supervision: Regular group supervision with experienced clinical psychologists

working in the neurodevelopmental field

✔ Admin Support: Dedicated administrative support so you can focus on your client work

✔ CPD: Continuing professional development opportunities

✔ Consistent Referral Stream: A steady pipeline of clients - no waitlists, no chasing

✔ Flexibility: Work around your existing commitments; remote or hybrid delivery

✔ Growth Opportunities: Real scope to develop and grow with us as the practice expands

Our Values

The adult ADHD and autism assessment landscape is crowded, and not always for the right

reasons. At True North Psychology, we hold the bar high. We are looking for someone who feels

that same frustration with conveyor-belt assessments, and who wants to be part of something

built on:

• Compassion, for clients and for the practitioners who serve them

• Integrity, doing the right thing, even when it is harder

• Genuine neuro-affirming care, embedded into every aspect of our work, not just our

marketing

How to Apply

If this resonates with you, please apply. If you have any questions about the associate role or application process please reach out to Dr Sara Tookey directly via LinkedIn, or visit our website to find out more about what we do and how we do it.
