This role is a management position supporting the commercial and finance teams in ensuring effective cost control of Data Centre construction projects and frameworks. The role reports to the Head of FP&A and leads a team of cost engineers and financial analysts.
Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain project cost status reports, including commercial project cost status reports, budget vs actual cost reporting, and forecast updates.
* Identify and explain variances between budget, actual, and forecast costs; report on actual and forecast project cash flows.
* Collaborate with commercial, project, and finance teams to provide accurate cost forecasting, trend analysis, and timely reporting.
* Attend project review meetings; communicate cost issues to senior management.
* Collect project cost information from finance and QS teams, review financial information, attend project meetings, and obtain third‑party reports to ensure cost reports reflect latest status.
* Ensure accurate cost forecasting and reporting requirements are met, including preparation of monthly project cost board reports.
Purchase and Payment Processes
* Raise and approve project purchase requisitions and purchase orders in a timely fashion in accordance with project schedule and Group policy.
* Process project cost invoices and payments, ensuring timely approval and accurate inclusion in project cost reports.
Cost Control Monitoring
* Approve project cost changes in line with the Group change management process.
* Identify and improve project cost control environments where necessary.
* Monitor contingency requirements and project budgets; ensure changes to contingency and budgets are appropriately approved.

Qualifications & Experience
* Qualified accountant; engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical), science, mathematics, project/business management, accounts or risk management background.
* Minimum five years experience delivering a similar role in cost engineering, commercial management or quantity surveying.
* Experience in Data Centre or similar hi‑tech projects.
* Experience in coaching and mentoring.
* Degree qualification; engineering or related discipline.
Technical Knowledge
* Experience with project control software systems and ERP implementation.
* Extensive Excel skills (SUMIF, VLOOKUP, Pivot).
* Strong analytical and logical skills; problem‑solving ability.
* Excellent communication and relationship building across functions.
* Professional, positive approach; self‑motivated and initiative‑driven.
* Fluent written and verbal English; accurate with figures and deadlines.
