We are looking for an experienced Operational Quality Manager to lead the Quality function within a specialist engineering company at the forefront of designing and manufacturing bespoke equipment for the nuclear industry.
This is a unique opportunity to join a highly specialised organisation dedicated to supplying containment systems, shielding doors, gloveboxes, and mechanical handling equipment to some of the UK’s most high-profile nuclear projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that these products meet exacting standards of quality, performance, and regulatory compliance.
Working closely with Department Leads, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for operational quality and inspection. You will drive process improvements and embed robust quality systems that support the full product lifecycle.
This role is ideal for a quality professional who combines technical excellence with strong leadership and thrives in a niche manufacturing environment where quality and safety are paramount.
Lead implementation and improvement of quality assurance processes that align with manufacturing standards and client requirements.
Use root cause analysis to develop preventative action plans and diagnose non-conformities.
Conduct regular quality audits and inspections.
Manage team of quality professionals including inspection and operational quality teams. Establish KPI’s, facilitate training programs, ensure SQEP protocols are followed and manage team admin tasks.
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering and other departments and represent Quality department in production meetings.
Proven record of Quality Management in a manufacturing environment (essential)
Degree in a relevant discipline (Quality, Engineering, Nuclear etc)
Quality Management systems experience (process audits, root cause analysis)
Desirable: understanding of calibration control systems/quality related software programmes
A leadership role with significant scope to influence and enhance the Quality department of a Nuclear Manufacturing business.
