Machinist
Location: Leicester
Salary: £16.50 + per hour (Depending on experience)
The Role
To undertake machining works as directed by the department supervisor and workshop manager. Control and operation of the machine shop equipment such as CNC, milling machines, pillar drill and lathes.
Main Responsibilities And Duties:
1. Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output.
2. Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.
3. Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping.
4. Read and interpret CAD drawings in order to select correct machinery.
5. Ability to work from samples
6. Select appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job
7. Determine and program size of batches, speed of machine etc.
8. Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues.
9. Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.
10. Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
11. Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.
12. Operation of Lathes, milling machines, slotters, grinders and pillar drill.
