Job Overview
This position is a Cleansing Operative Driver/Crew Leader responsible for maintaining the local environment to a high standard of cleanliness. The role involves street and open space cleaning, litter collection, environmental inspection and enforcement. The successful candidate will drive the appropriate vehicle, manage cleaning operatives, and deliver clear service improvements.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate a 4x4 working pattern, with unsocial hour payment where applicable.
* Ensure the local environment is maintained to a high cleanliness standard.
* Manage day‑to‑day task allocation and supervise up to five cleansing operatives, including lone workers.
* Act as the first point of contact with the local community, responding to problems and working alongside relevant council departments and agencies.
* Support temporary/seasonal staff and provide on‑the‑job training, including agency and new start staff.
* Drive continuous improvement activities, including reviewing practices and optimizing routes to meet agreed performance targets.
* Prioritise work and crew responsibilities, addressing urgent issues within appropriate timescales.
* Use mobile technology to allocate enquiries to staff and monitor service standards.
