Based in North Preston, this specialist school works with SEMH pupils from the ages of 11-16. Offering a broad range of engaging curriculum in order to provide their pupils with the opportunity to develop and grow their academic and social skills.
Your new role
Working alongside an experienced Outdoor Education lead, you will be taking KS3 children to outdoor activities Monday-Thursday, for the majority of the working day. You will be involved in the supervision of the pupils (up to 8 pupils with the other member of staff) to ensure health and safety are followed at all times. On Fridays, you would be school-based with a PPA toplete admin tasks assigned by the outdoor education lead and then work with pupils in school. Friday afternoon is activity time for pupils, so you will be asked to play football, pool, golf, basketball, superviseputing or enhance pupils' social skills.
What you'll need to succeed
Be able to build good relationships with pupils based on clear boundaries, respect and understanding of individual pupil needs (some have sensory issues so can't handle mud or sand, some have physical limitations, some have low social skills so need appropriate behaviour modelled consistently).
