Yes? That’s great! We have an exciting roles for one senior pharmacy technician to lead, supervise and co-ordinate the work of the dispensaries at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust - St Helier site.

We’re a close-knit bunch, united in our purpose to providing a first-class service to our patients, whilst looking out for one another as a first-class team!

It’s fast paced and you’ll need a good eye for detail as well as excellent customer care skills in order to liaise effectively with our patients, and MDT members. You must be a qualified accredited checking technician (ACPT).

Please note this post is a 2 day a week role and participates in Saturday and Sunday working as part of our 7-day service, Bank Holiday and late duty rotas.

Main duties of the job

Please note this post is a 2 day a week role and days must be consecutive and will be discussed at interview.

To assist in the management of the day to day operational organisation of the dispensaries, including the safe, efficient and timely dispensing of prescriptions following departmental policy, to meet the needs of the patient and the pharmacy department.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. BTEC / NVQ Level 3 Certified Pharmacy Technician registered with GPhC
2. Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) Certificate.

Desirable criteria

3. NVQ Practice and/or Educational Supervisor

Experience

Essential criteria

4. Post qualification hospital experience
5. Experience in supervision of staff
6. Patient counselling
7. Proven stock control experience and knowledge

Desirable criteria

8. Experience with the CMM (formerly JAC) pharmacy computer system
9. Understanding of and participation in data collection for KPIs and audit
10. Dispensing/supply of clinical trials

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria

11. Ability to organise own workload and that of others
12. Computer literate for dispensing and stock keeping/issue purposes
13. Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work
14. Effective communication skills, verbal and written using clear English and overcome barriers to understanding
15. Proven organisational skills

Desirable criteria

16. Ability to manage change
17. Experience in providing a ward-based service
18. Understanding of and participation in audit
