Job Summary:
In this role, working in the WMArchitect Applications Engineering team, you will design the single-use systems that make up the WMArchitect product line. As part of a dedicated team of engineers, you will collaborate closely with global sales teams to draw and quote systems for our customers, ensuring they are both innovative and manufacturable. Your role will be vital in maintaining our world-class service standards to meet the demanding needs of the biopharma and medical device industries. The role includes an initial project to increase automation in the design process, including automated BOM generation, reducing drawing time and minimizing errors by transitioning to the SolidWorks platform.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with sales teams across multiple countries to evaluate design requests for our global customer base.
* Manage multiple stakeholders to ensure inquiries are prioritized appropriately.
* Join customer calls to provide technical guidance and troubleshoot design issues.
* Design and draw new assembly products under the WMArchitect brand, providing expert technical knowledge on assembly design and feasibility.
* Balance factors such as lead time, cost, component availability, fit and function, ease of manufacture, and customer requirements to optimize design configurations.
* Create manufacturing drawings of assemblies using vector design software (e.g., CorelDraw).
* Work with the validation team to ensure all components comply with relevant standards.
* Quote new designs and update prices for existing drawings using predefined cost models and liaising with suppliers and purchasing teams.
* Create and maintain WMArchitect part numbers in the ERP system.
* Collaborate with the PLM team and SolidWorks partners to set up proof-of-concept models in SolidWorks, including gathering component drawings, establishing automation rules, and transitioning document control procedures to Windchill.
* Assist in training the engineering team on SolidWorks and PLM systems.
* Work with planning and operations teams to troubleshoot during planning and manufacturing.
* Support continuous improvement projects and quality programs, including sterility and product testing.
* Monitor and report team KPIs during daily SDT meetings.
Skills/Experience:
* Degree in Engineering or equivalent industrial experience
* Experience in biopharmaceutical processing components and single-use systems (preferred)
* Proficiency in CAD software, ideally SolidWorks
* Strong numerical and analytical skills
* Knowledge of ERP systems
* Effective communication skills, managing various stakeholders
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure
