Lead Manufacturing Readiness Engineer role at GE Vernova.

GE Vernova’s Power Conversion business provides electrification systems that are critical to customers’ power and energy needs for their high-performance applications. We work with some of the world’s major energy, maritime and industrial organizations, helping to enable a transition to energy efficiency and decarbonization, including through our specialist motors, drives and control technologies. At Rotating Machines Rugby (RMR), we design and build technically advanced electrical rotating machinery in diverse industrial applications. Our motors power advanced warships; our generators help decarbonise industry for a sustainable future. The Manufacturing Readiness & Technologies Team is part of the RMR Engineering Department and focuses on development and implementation of new manufacturing technologies. We drive improvements in execution, efficiency and cost reduction through Lean Manufacturing practices and innovative ideas to ensure new projects can be manufactured efficiently.


What you will be doing

* Primarily, the Lead Engineer for Pressing, Machining, Assembly and Testing Operations within RMR.
* Training and coaching less experienced staff to improve autonomy and efficiency.
* Leading Capex investment projects from proposal/cost benefit analysis through to installation and commissioning/handover.
* Leading improvement studies to improve manufacturing efficiencies.
* Planning coordination, installation/commissioning of new kit, equipment, or contractor supervision.
* Driving Kaizen initiatives and tracking their impact/cost savings.
* Analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment placement to maximise manufacturing efficiency.
* As required, travelling to suppliers or other GE sites to supervise work, lead projects or learn best practices that can be applied to RMR.
* Working cross-functionally as part of a global GE team to ensure our customers (external and internal) are satisfied with their experience of dealing with us.


Who we are looking for

* An experienced engineer with a strong rotating machines background and proven leadership abilities to lead change within our manufacturing organization.
* An engineer with CAD design skills (preferably Creo/SolidWorks) who can model tooling concepts and take them through to detailed design.
* Demonstrable prior experience in leading Lean initiatives.
* Capability to set and meet aggressive goals; motivated and driven to continually improve. A proactive self-starter who reacts positively to challenges.
* Excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills. Methodical, detail-oriented, and well organized.
* Strong computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and knowledge of design software.
* Ability to work as part of a diverse, multi-disciplined project team and deliver to EHS, Quality, Delivery and Cost metrics.
* Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering challenges, and best practices.
* Motivating and influencing change agents; flexible approach with willingness to travel and work extended hours when required.
* Experience leading engineering design and design reviews; ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and documentation.
* Ability to train shopfloor operators and explain complex engineering processes; effective communication across the business up to senior management level.
