The Role
As Senior H&S Advisor, you’ll play a vital role in driving a proactive Safety, Health & Wellbeing culture across a large delivery area. You’ll work closely with operational teams and supply chain partners, providing support, assurance and guidance to ensure the safe delivery of complex civil engineering works.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading all SH&W activity for your designated delivery area
* Building trusted relationships with construction and supply chain teams
* Supporting and promoting corporate and local safety initiatives
* Undertaking regular site inspections and identifying trends or anomalies
* Managing audit/inspection findings and monitoring close‑out actionsSupporting investigations and helping drive local improvements
* Ensuring compliance with internal safety management systems
* Carrying out internal audits and surveillance activity
* Promoting wellbeing and behavioural safety programmes
* Participating in the on‑call rota when required
* Contributing to the wider SH&W function across the project
About You
We’re looking for a confident communicator with strong operational safety experience gained on major construction or civil engineering projects.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent)
* Tech IOSH (or higher)
* Strong knowledge of site safety within a construction environment
* Ability to influence behaviours and encourage good practice
* Excellent communication and engagement skills
* Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced setting
* Full UK driving licence + own vehicle
* Valid CSCS card
The Project
The organisation is delivering a significant section of a nationally important infrastructure scheme spanning multiple counties. Works include large‑scale earthworks, structures, viaducts, bridges, road diversions and environmentally sensitive construction.
