Salary: Paid to teacher scale M1 - M6

We are seeking an enthusiastic SEND Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive college, teaching learners aged 16-25 with complex needs. The Role: PMLD Teacher - College Setting
As a PMLD Teacher, you will lead a small class of learners with profound and multiple learning difficulties, delivering a tailored curriculum that supports not only academic progress but also personal development, communication, and essential life skills. You will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team of teaching assistants, therapists, and healthcare professionals to ensure each learner receives holistic support.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver Personalised Lessons: Plan and deliver creative, multi-sensory learning experiences that are adapted to the needs and abilities of PMLD learners.
Promote Holistic Development: Support learners in developing communication, independence, social interaction, and life skills.
EHCP Planning & Review: Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and regularly review learner targets to ensure meaningful progress.
Assistive Communication: Implement alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS, AAC devices) to support learners' expression and interaction.
Collaborative Working: Partner with support assistants, therapists, and families to create a consistent and inclusive approach to learning.
Create a Safe Environment: Build a nurturing and positive classroom where learners feel secure, valued, and able to thrive.
Oversee Care Needs: Support staff in ensuring personal care plans are delivered with respect and dignity at all times.
Track Progress: Record and evaluate learner progress, celebrating successes and adapting strategies where necessary.What We're Looking For
To excel in this role, you will need:
A recognised teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, or equivalent).
Experience teaching learners with PMLD, complex needs, or severe learning difficulties (SLD).
Knowledge of SEN-specific strategies, including sensory learning and communication support tools.
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
Patience, creativity, and empathy to support learners with high levels of need.
A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable learners
