Egis Transport Solutions (ETS), a business unit of the Egis Group, brings together all the necessary expertise for guided urban transport and heavy rail systems. Our business provides a full range of consultancy services from initial project feasibility to delivery, commissioning and closeout. We deliver design and resource solutions to our wide range of clients ensuring safe and successful delivery.

Owing to a growing pipeline of project-related works, EGIS is seeking an experienced candidate for the position of Project Controls Manager. The role will ideally be based in London working within our Rail Transportation Division. Ideally you will have a strong background on UK Rail and Infrastructure projects.

As Project Controls Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that key project risks and constraints are identified at the earliest opportunity to inform client decision making.

Job description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join the Egis Transportation Solutions team as a Project Controls Manager (PCM) within our Programme Management Office Function


This role involves delivering for our clients on a range of projects, contributing to the overall growth of the ETS business and managing other Project Controls Specialists within the PMO function ensuring Egis continue to set the bar for successful delivery of Transportation projects.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Client delivery: as a Project Controls Manager you will be expected to lead the delivery of services to our range of clients ensuring safety on time and within budget delivery. You will directly deliver outputs and manage the client relationship and where appropriate manage the work output and quality of other Project Controls Specialists deployed on the same commission.
2. Process optimisation: Project Controls is at its core about providingthe right information at the right time to the right people. This can often involve the coordination of a range of separate processes and interfacing with differing departments (eg finance / commercial).
3. Stakeholder Engagement: Supporting our clients with their internal and external stakeholder needs whether via reporting or direct liaison to ensure that their needs & ours meet with clear communication.
4. Technical specialist: You will have a technical specialism in either planning; reporting; risk management or information management.
5. Technical Knowledge: Key to the PCM role is the appreciation of all the Project Controls professions; how to manage the relevant experts in each profession and where and how the differing systems can and best integrate e.g. Primavera and BIM
6. Recruitment: Work collaboratively in response to requests from the PMO Director to recruit sufficient high performing staff to meet forecasted resource requirements within budget.
7. Strategic support: Work collaboratively within the PMO Director to positively contribute to business plan development to meet the overall business targets
8. Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of project controls staff, providing guidance, support and performance management.
9. Utilisation: Ensure that you and the project controls professionals appointed as your direct reports are fully utilised to the agreed targets
10. Competence and Training: Support the continued development and adoption of relevant competence frameworks for each of the project controls professions.
11. Innovation: Ensure Egis is a leader in the development and implementation of new tools and systems to ensure high performing project delivery.
12. Work Winning: Act as bid lead or bid support for Transportation tenders and ensure that Egis Tender Unit has sufficientsuitably skilled project controls support for all tenders.

Profile

Skills and Experience

Essential:

17. Extensive experience in infrastructure project delivery
18. Experience in project controls in either planning, risk management, reporting or information management
19. Proven track record of successfully delivering major projects within a consultancy environment.
20. Excellent people management and development skills
21. Strong business development skills with a history of winning work.
22. Excellent communication, negotiation and client management abilities.
23. Financial acumen and experience in project budget management.
24. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
25. Willingness to travel as required for project assignments.


Desirable:

26. Degree in Project Management, Engineering or a related field
27. Chartered project manager or similar and member of a related professional body
28. Rail sector knowledge
