Southampton FC Women has seen a meteoric growth in the past few seasons. With a thriving academy already providing new talent for the club and the creation of a Women’s first team ahead of the 2017/18 season, was the beginning of a prosperous rise into senior football.
Our Women’s first team are full time professionals based at the famous and well known Staplewood Campus and also play their home games at St Mary’s Stadium.
Our ambition is to become a competitive BWSL team in the future. In order to achieve this goal we are investing in and expanding the current structure to bring in additional a critical leadership role which is key to our future success and we would love for someone as equally passionate about the Women’s game to join us as Academy Manager (Girls’ Academy).
What will you be doing?
You’ll be leading on all matters relating to the direction of the Girls Academy, with the aim of nurturing outstanding young players to develop into the Clubs first team. Driving the strategy of the Girls Academy will be a top priority, linking with the overall football strategy to ensure our approach continues to underpin the main business objectives.
Please be aware that this is not a coaching role but experience working within football is highly desirable.
Specific responsibilities include:
Maintain high standards of discipline and ensure the principles of the Clubs football culture and philosophy are upheld by all staff and players operating within the Academy.
Work with the Recruitment Manager and provide regular communication on players and progress.
Work with the Director of Women’s Football to support the identification and recruitment of talented young players.
Oversee the registrations of all Academy players.
Support the Academy by leading potential player and parent meetings selling the vision of the club and individual player pathways.
Produce quarterly reports outlining the Academy KPI’s and their progress towards the Club objectives to the G&W Board.
Oversee and be responsible for the entire Academy budget, including the preparation of an annual budget for board submission.
Ensure full compliance with all youth development/Academy rules set by The FA.
Lead on all Audit Processes and ensure we are compliant throughout the PGA Licence period.
Represent the club at key Academy leadership and stakeholder meetings/conferences.
Provide support to the U21s Head Coach on the whole Academy coaching programme.
Collaborate closely with staff in Player Care and undertake pastoral and welfare duties in conjunction with the Player Care Department.
Working collaboratively with the Player Care Officer, build and maintain strong relationships with HE/FE establishments to support the dual-career of all our Academy players.
Ensure successful delivery of a comprehensive CPD Programme which is both generic and phase appropriate where required, to all academy staff.
Lead parent/ guardian evening meetings and workshops and maintain strong relationships with parent/ guardians, teachers and other appropriate persons where applicable.
In collaboration with U21s Head Coach ensure the creation and successful delivery of a structured coach development system for all academy coaches.
Oversee the implementation of an annual retain and release academy player programme.

We are looking for someone who not only has the technical capabilities of a manager but who champions women’s football and has a passion to create and promote opportunities for girls within the sport.
This role will require a skilful emotionally intelligent person to handle multiple projects and sometimes complex situations. The successful candidate will make daily decisions in order to allow our staff to concentrate on their area of expertise and our players to maximise their potential.
Please note this role may require you to attend games across all Academy age groups throughout the pathway, as well as first team matches when required, both home and away.
Essen
UEFA B licence (UEFA A License desirable)
FA Safeguarding Children Course and FA Level
1 Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF) or FA
Emergency First Aid.
Experienced leadership skills in a sporting/business environment.
Strong communication and listening skills (staff, players and parents).
Effective strategist (can create and drive internal strategies linked to the clubs overall strategy).
Good sports management and administration skills and experience.
Experience of youth development high performance environments (preferably in female sport, but not essential).
