Job summary There has never been a better time to join our established and skilled team within CAMHS. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the further growth and development of crisis care provision for the children and young people across North Wales. This newly developed post, based within the beautiful area Gwynedd in our newly developed Unscheduled Care Team, will provide caring clinicians with flexibility, autonomy and professional growth and development. As part of our transformation and development of Child and Adolescent Mental Health services, we are strengthening our leadership, pathways and services to provide a rapid, robust and extended multi-agency crisis response that includes prompt assessment, liaison, consultation, training and where appropriate intensive time limited interventions for children and young people up to the age of 18, who are experiencing an acute mental health and/or psycho-social crisis. We are looking to recruit an experienced, registered practitioner and welcome applications from applicants who have not worked in CAMHS but have transferable skills relevant to the role. We would welcome skills and experience in working with young people and families with complex difficulties, experience in completing mental health assessments and risk management. The post holder will link with the local Substance Misuse Service and provide substance misuse support to young people presenting in crisis. Main duties of the job To undertake assessments within AE, paediatric wards and other community settings to support the provision of a crisis response. You will provide clinical formulation, identifying the young person's and family's needs, offer liaison, consultation, brief intervention where required, facilitate safe discharge and support care planning across partner agencies. The post holder will be required to work flexibly across North Wales and as the service develops to a 24-hour provision.You will be a part of a multi-disciplinary Regional unscheduled care service, working with young people who are experiencing a mental health and/or psycho-social crisis, whereby hospital admission is a strong possibility, but can be safely supported at home or within another community setting. You will provide urgent assessment, brief intervention and / or specific evidence based therapies to children / young people with mental health problems and significant mental health disorders. To support parents, carers and front line professionals in understanding and supporting the child / young person through providing education, advice and direction on how to manage the condition. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply. Person Specification Qualifications and Knowledge Essential Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Registered Nurse, Mental Health OR Social Worker registered with the Care Council. Occupational Therapist registered with the Health Professions Council Evidence of personal and clinical development. Evidence of post graduate training for the supervision and teaching of junior staff. Extensive knowledge of mental health issues Up to date knowledge and application of consent, data protection, patient confidentiality and risk management with Health and Safety issues.
