Associate Technical Consultant - Engineering
The College is seeking applications for an Associate Technical Consultant in Engineering for a 1 year fixed‑term contract based in our Springtown campus. The post holder will support the I4.0 team by providing a comprehensive technical support service to staff, industry and students in the use of equipment and facilities in the I4.0 Centre. The post holder will also develop and maintain relationships with businesses in the areas of Engineering, Automation, Industry 4.0 technologies and Smart Manufacturing. Working with I4.0 staff and College partners, they will support the development and delivery of specific interventions in Engineering, Automation, Industry 4.0 technologies and Smart Manufacturing. They will also support the I4.0 team to provide a high‑quality service and meet its targets within budget and on time.
Responsibilities
* Provide up‑skilling support, including specialist training for industry within the area of specialism, through engagement with employers.
* Prepare materials, deliver presentations and provide demonstrations for visitors to the I4.0 Centre on the use of equipment and facilities.
* Create standard operating procedures for I4.0 equipment to support the training of users of the Centre.
* Carry out monthly health & safety audits of the workshop and risk assessments as appropriate and as required by the Health & Safety Officer.
* Assist with the ordering of materials, their receipt, safe and secure storage, and maintenance of a stock control system to ensure availability of materials for the I4.0 Centre.
Skills and Qualifications
* At least a Level 5 qualification in Technology, Manufacturing, Engineering or a Design‑related discipline.
* Experience of Industry 4.0 technologies including robotics, automation, electronics and smart manufacturing.
* At least a Level 2 qualification or equivalent coursework in smart manufacturing technologies or engineering.
* Current driving licence and access to a car. Applicants with a disability prevented from obtaining a licence due to disability (as defined by the DDA 1995) are eligible to apply.
