We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) to join our Blood Sciences team.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Pre-analytical sample preparation (unpacking, sorting, booking-in, aliquot preparation, storage, and quality assessment).
2. Decision making on ambiguous requests following standard operating procedures.
3. Entry of Patient Identification Data (PID) and test details into the laboratory computer system with high attention to detail.
4. Resolving PID issues such as mislabelling, mislaid specimens, and incorrect requests.
5. Distribution and receipt of stock and store goods management.
6. Sending samples via post following postal regulations.
7. Filing samples, request forms, and blocks using manual or electronic systems.
8. Cleaning and disinfecting work areas and equipment.
9. Handling telephone enquiries professionally and politely.
10. Communicating results to GP surgeries via telephone.
