Job Opportunity in Ecology, Historic Environment & Landscape (EHEL)

Our Ecology, Historic Environment & Landscape (EHEL) service area is seeking to hire a Senior Landscape Architect, a Landscape Officer, or an Assistant Landscape Officer.

Senior Landscape Architect (£40,476 - £42,708) – permanent

or

Landscape Officer (£35,235 – £37,938) – permanent

or

Assistant Landscape Officer (£27,711 – £30,060) - permanent

Now is the time to work for Warwickshire County Council; the first Council to deliver Biodiversity Net Gain and at the forefront of Natural Capital Investment to deliver Landscape Recovery.

The primary responsibility of the role will be to provide planning advice on county applications (such as mineral extraction) and District and Borough applications (including residential and commercial development) within our Planning team. Additionally, you will support the Natural Capital team in achieving the Council’s goal of planting 566,000 trees by 2030, which equates to one tree for every resident of Warwickshire. Experience in applying for grants (e.g. Forestry Commission) and understanding carbon markets would be beneficial for this target.

We are also aiming to update the Landscape Character Assessment for the county, so expertise in this area would be advantageous.

You will join a dedicated, knowledgeable, and experienced team comprising 15 ecological officers, 5 historic environment officers, and 1 landscape architect.

Additional information on the team’s remit and structure can be found here.

General Information

We are looking for candidates who can integrate well with the existing team, bringing their current skills and an enthusiasm to expand their expertise. Our workforce training plan supports active progression from apprentices to Service Manager, following the respective chartered institute competency frameworks (or equivalent).
