Overview

Join to apply for the Senior Mental Health Practitioner (Specialist CMHT) role at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

The Wigan Specialist Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) are looking to welcome Senior Mental Health Practitioners (Band 6) to the team. These posts form part of our Community Transformation Plan, working within a core MDT and professionally registered practitioners. If you are passionate about supporting people and want to progress into a senior position where you can enhance your clinical skills and offer key working to a small caseload of individuals with complex mental health needs, then we would like to hear from you.

This role provides an opportunity to support junior colleagues through direct leadership and supervision, and to be involved in service development. A well-established team will offer wrap-around support. Staff wellbeing and development are prioritised, with regular supervision and appraisal. We are integrated with the therapies team for further training and development.

These posts are full-time (37.5 hours) with flexible working possible. The post is based at Claire House in Wigan and the post holder will travel across the Borough to satellite clinics in Wigan and Leigh.

The Specialist Community Mental Health Team provides care, treatment and support to adults with significant mental health needs living in Wigan and Leigh. The Senior Mental Health Practitioners will support a caseload of patients with severe and complex mental health conditions under the direct clinical supervision of a Senior Case Manager (Band 7). They will be supported by junior staff including Nurse Practitioners, Support Time and Recovery Workers and Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioners, as well as the wider MDT.

You will be required to have experience of working in a similar setting and role. You will undertake the duties of care coordinator, managing a caseload of service users with complex mental health needs under the CPA framework, providing direct care and signposting to appropriate services and interventions to meet patient needs. You will also be involved in managing duty calls from adult service users, carers, friends and families seeking advice and support.

Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over 7,000 staff, delivering services from more than 122 locations. We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care across Greater Manchester and beyond.

Wherever you go you will experience a great northern welcome with people famed for their warmth and generosity. Our people enjoy their work, have opportunities to learn and develop skills, and are encouraged to generate new ideas that improve care for our service users.

For further details / informal visits contact: Name: Laura Towers, Team Manager; Email: laura.towers@gmmh.nhs.uk. Please contact Laura Towers (Team Manager) or Beth Dobinson (Deputy Team Manager) to arrange an informal chat and/or visit. We can also facilitate an informal chat with current Senior Nurse Practitioners (Band 6) or Senior Case Managers (Band 7).
