The Wigan Specialist Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) are looking to welcome Senior Mental Health Practitioners (Band 6) to the team. These posts form part of our Community Transformation Plan, working within a core MDT and professionally registered practitioners. If you are passionate about supporting people and want to progress into a senior position where you can enhance your clinical skills and offer key working to a small caseload of individuals with complex mental health needs, then we would like to hear from you.
This role provides an opportunity to support junior colleagues through direct leadership and supervision, and to be involved in service development. A well-established team will offer wrap-around support. Staff wellbeing and development are prioritised, with regular supervision and appraisal. We are integrated with the therapies team for further training and development.
These posts are full-time (37.5 hours) with flexible working possible. The post is based at Claire House in Wigan and the post holder will travel across the Borough to satellite clinics in Wigan and Leigh.
The Specialist Community Mental Health Team provides care, treatment and support to adults with significant mental health needs living in Wigan and Leigh. The Senior Mental Health Practitioners will support a caseload of patients with severe and complex mental health conditions under the direct clinical supervision of a Senior Case Manager (Band 7). They will be supported by junior staff including Nurse Practitioners, Support Time and Recovery Workers and Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioners, as well as the wider MDT.
You will be required to have experience of working in a similar setting and role. You will undertake the duties of care coordinator, managing a caseload of service users with complex mental health needs under the CPA framework, providing direct care and signposting to appropriate services and interventions to meet patient needs. You will also be involved in managing duty calls from adult service users, carers, friends and families seeking advice and support.
