Interim Finance Director
Location : Nottingham (4 days per week in the office)
Day Rate : £750 - £950 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract : 6 - 12 months
The Opportunity
We are supporting a leading house builder in Nottingham who are seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director. This role will be instrumental in providing strategic and operational financial leadership, ensuring robust financial control, and partnering closely with the senior leadership team to drive performance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the finance function, overseeing all financial reporting, controls, and compliance
Provide strategic financial insight to the Board and senior management team
Oversee cashflow, forecasting, and funding requirements to ensure the business is well-positioned for growth
Manage budgeting and long-term planning processes, supporting key commercial decisions
Ensure strong governance and risk management across all financial activities
Lead and mentor the finance team, embedding a high-performance culture
Business partner with operational and commercial teams, driving profitability across developments
Support land acquisition appraisals, investment decisions, and project performance tracking
Key Requirements
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualified experience
Previous experience as a Finance Director (interim or permanent) in a complex, fast-paced environment
Proven track record of leading finance functions during periods of change, growth, or transition
Strong technical financial knowledge, alongside the ability to operate as a commercial business partner
Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to influence and challenge at Board level
Industry Desirable
Experience within the house building or wider construction / property development sector
Strong understanding of WIP accounting, cashflow management, and project-based financials
Familiarity with land acquisition appraisals and funding structures within the sector
Exposure to dealing with joint ventures, development finance, and lender reporting
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements relevant to house builders
