An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 clinical Nurse Specialist / HA post in the Harrison Wing. This is a one year fixed-term contract, covering the current post-holders’ secondment.
Over 4000 patients are registered for their care at the Harrison Wing, making us one of the biggest and busiest HIV outpatient departments in the capital. As well as providing HIV and sexual health outpatient services, we also care for inpatients, primarily on Hillyers Ward at St Thomas’ Hospital.
Closing Date: 6th April 2026
Interview Date: 15th April 2026
Main duties of the job
This role would suit an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Health Advisor who also is also a nurse with current NMC registration. To secure an interview you will need to include your professional registration and work experience in your application.
The successful applicant will be expected to provide care for some of the most vulnerable patients in our service. Duties include management of reactive HIV results, sharing new HIV diagnoses, initial assessment and support for new patients, assessing and delivering brief interventions/referrals around mental health, social issues, substance use, sex and relationship difficulties and ensuring the process of HIV partner notification and child testing. As well as having an ongoing clinical caseload of complex patients, the successful applicant will act as a resource in the department, so a sound working knowledge of HIV and other support services is essential. The post holder will lead on the departmental mental health support that many patients need to achieve good outcomes. The successful candidate will provide clinical supervision to the results co-ordinator and peer support team.
As well as experience of working with people living with HIV, applicants will be required to demonstrate management and leadership skills, experience of managing vulnerable individuals and a strong sense of initiative.
