Overview
Wokingham Borough Council is looking for a Contract Officer to join the Children’s Services team. The role is full time, permanent, and supports the Delivery of the Contract Management Framework within the Children’s Strategy, Transformation and Commissioning Team. The Contract Officer will manage contracts with providers, providing key support to council staff and external customers, ensuring contracts are delivered efficiently and within risk and compliance parameters.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake core administrative activities for contract management, including issuing contracts and overseeing provider due diligence.
* Coordinate contract communication with providers, notifying changes and managing requests for new or amended contracts.
* Act as Contract Lead for contracts under the Strategy, Transformation & Commissioning team, with an annual value up to £20,000.
* Provide specialist contract advice and recommendations to support informed decision‑making.
* Deliver day‑to‑day contract management and supplier relationship management throughout the contract lifecycle.
* Support the delivery of the Contract Management Framework for Children's Services.
Qualifications & Experience
* Good standard of education; excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
* GCSE level Maths and English or equivalent.
* Experience supporting delivery of change, especially in process improvement.
* Ability to write effective briefings and strategic documents.
* Comprehensive understanding of contract terms, key clauses and compliance requirements.
* Experience in interpreting and applying contractual terms to ensure effective service delivery and risk management.
Personal Qualities
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Attention to detail and problem‑solving ability.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
