The Medical Administrative Assistant supports the day to day of the administrative operations for the surgery. This role involves a wide range of tasks, including clinical coding, clinical document processing, handling patient records and assisting clinical and administrative staff.
We follow strict protocols to maintain patient safety and patient records.
We are looking for 19.5 hrs to cover the following:
Monday 1pm -5.30pm
Tuesday 1pm 5pm
Thursday 1pm 5 pm
Friday 9am - 5pm
Main duties of the job
Patient Records and Data Management:
Reviewing and work flowing clinical and non-clinical documents to appropriate clinicians or teams.
Handling incoming and outgoing post, emails and internal communications.
Scanning, electronic filing and achieving documents.
Maintaining an accurate and organised filing system (electronic and paper).
General Administration:
Updating and maintaining patient records on the EMIS and Docman clinical systems.
Reviewing and clinical coding new patient records currently.
Assisting with patient registrations, deductions and recalls.
Ensuring the confidentiality and accuracy of all patient data.

Person Specification
Experience
* Previous experience in an administrative role, ideally in a Primary healthcare setting.
* General understanding of medical terminology
* Experience of working through multiple systems at the same time in a time-efficient manner, including Microsoft Office and clinical systems.
* Effective organization and priority-setting of work and attention to detail.
* Strong oral and written communication
* Commitment to patient confidentiality and GDPR compliance
* Knowledge of NHS systems and procedures.
* Experience with EMIS, Docman, or similar clinical software.
* Experience working in a GP surgery or similar environment.
