What does a Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) do at Hillingdon?
We’re looking for dedicated and professional Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) to join our dedicated AMHP Hub. This specialist service is part of the wider Adult Social Work service, based at various locations including the Riverside Centre or Civic Centre in Uxbridge.
Our borough offers fantastic transport links with the A40, M25, Metropolitan, Elizabeth, and Piccadilly lines, all local to us, so you can easily travel to work, with free parking within our own car park.
In addition to the salary advertised you will receive a 14% uplift for working on a shift pattern, therefore this will increase the salary offered.
You will be working as an AMHP in the specialist AMHP Hub, undertaking AMHP duties and supporting the 24/7 Triage Team with Adults Social Care queries. The AMHP Hub and the 24/7 Triage Team ensure that Hillingdon can continue to meet the its statutory services and the needs of residents, both in and out of hours.
You will be working in partnership with residents, families and carers, as well as other professionals, to optimise involvement and provide collaborative solutions, utilising your skills to engage with people in creative ways, to find out what matters to individuals and to promote their recovery and independence. You will be working with complex situations that require thorough and robust risk assessments, crisis intervention and decision-making. Always ensuring that the appropriate response is made in line with policy and procedure and using your professional judgement.
We work to support people to live in the community and working with families and local communities is central to our approach, as we know this achieves the best outcomes for people. Developing a whole-system response with our key partners is critical to providing good quality care and outcome focused solutions to delivering the right support.
About you
We appreciate the very specific skills, knowledge and experience that AMHPs bring. In recognition of this, our practicing AMHPs are recognised as Advanced Social Work Practitioners. We offer a competitive starting salary, access to monthly support and supervision, manageable caseloads for case holders, annual AMHP-specific training, alongside the existing AMHP forum. Within the wider service, we offer social workers an opportunity to undertake AMHP training, along with many other CPD opportunities.
You will also be required to take part in a standby rota to cover the hours between midnight and 9am and will be on duty for approximately 1 week in 6, or one night per week, for which a sessional payment is made, and overtime is claimed for any call outs to undertake assessments.
