We have an active and growing paediatric research unit based within a new, dedicated and purpose-built Children’s Clinical Research Facility (CCRF), which opened in 2018.
We employ over 18 research nurses and clinical research practitioners with a portfolio of over 20 research studies currently in the delivery stage. Over recent years, the department has seen a significant expansion of clinical research.
We currently have a vacancy for a Band 7 Senior Paediatric Research Nurse to join our team to work on our allergy studies. The post will suit an enthusiastic, organised and motivated individual to join us on the Children's Clinical Research Facility (CCRF) at St Mary’s Hospital.
Hours will be part time (18.75hrs) but condensed into 2-days per week. The successful applicant will join a first-class team delivering ongoing, ground-breaking, paediatric research studies, particularly in the field of children's allergy.
This role involves working closely with medical and nursing staff along with research participants and their families. Central to the role is the leading a team of research nurses, supporting recruitment, education and monitoring of patients participating in our allergy clinical research studies.
The post holder will be involved in ensuring that any research undertaken within the department safeguards the well-being of the patients, and is conducted within ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines for Research
This position provides the post-holder with the opportunity to work with a very supportive and welcoming team and to further develop your existing knowledge and skills.
Prior experience of working in allergy is essential for this role and experience of research within an NHS setting is highly desirable.
Main duties of the job
1. You will be at the forefront of co-ordinating and delivering clinical trials for children and young people.
2. You will work as part of a dedicated team of paediatric clinical research nurses and practitioners seeking to improve clinical care for children and their families as a result of the advancements made through findings from our clinical research trials.
3. You will be highly organised with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to providing the best standard of care to our research participants and their families.
4. The post is based in the Children's Clinical Research Facility (CCRF), a purpose-built facility for the delivery of clinical trials specifically in children.
5. The CCRF team work to promote awareness of clinical research in the Trust and support staff with development of their own careers in clinical and academic research.
6. There will be a requirement for working across the different sites at Imperial when necessary but mainly St Mary's and Hammersmith Hospitals where the paediatric and women's health services are located.
7. The ability to work independently and follow the policies and procedures of the department is essential. The successful candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills, flexibility, and reliability and must have an organised approach to work.
8. The role will suit enthusiastic individuals, looking to advance their career in research.
9. They will be experienced in clinical research, understanding the latest assessments, diagnostic and preventative measures particularly in relation to allergy/immunotherapy and looking to further develop their leadership skills.

11. Teaching Qualification or equivalent experience
