Shift Manager (Energy from Waste) Maidstone, Kent £-Attractive Salary plus benefits Our client is one of the UK’s leading waste and resource management companies, with over 200 facilities and 4,200 employees across the UK. A vacancy currently exists for a Shift Manager to take responsibility for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the company’s Energy from Waste Facility in Kent. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee the daily activities of the operational team, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. You will also drive operational improvements, co-ordinate with maintenance and support teams, and ensure performance targets are met. This is a full-time role, working a shift pattern, 40 hours per week. Main duties: * Overseeing the health, safety, and wellbeing of staff, contractors, and visitors * Managing and supervising the daily operations of the facility * Ensuring compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and environmental standards * Leading a team of six direct reports and driving performance improvements * Supporting operational improvements and plant maintenance co-ordination * Managing contractor activities and ensuring work is carried out safely * Leading workplace investigations and root cause analysis for operational incidents * Supporting recruitment, training, and development of the shift team * Acting as Incident Controller during emergency situations * Ensuring effective communication between departments to maintain efficiency Candidate requirements: * Must be fully authorised to operate an EFW facility or working towards. * Authorised to administer Safety Rules to SAP level 2 or working towards. * Broad technical background in either plant operations or maintenance. * Preferably five years (5) experience, including practical and supervisory experience with large boilers and rotating plant. * Experienced in supervising or managing small teams. * Demonstrate understanding of the Environment Permit and emissions limits. * Experience in managing the procurement of goods and services. * Development and implementation of operational procedures and risk assessments. * Proven ability to select and build strong teams while demonstrating strong leadership and skilled in delivering measurable results through others. * Ability to manage employee performance through feedback and engagement * Experience of setting personnel and financial objectives and targets. * Experienced in Safety Rules Outage management.
