We have an exciting opportunity for those wishing to work within the role of Nursing Assistant within Child & Adolescent Mental Health. Ty Llidiard is a 15 bedded tier 4 General Adolescent Mental Health Unit with a high care ward, serving the population of South Wales. The unit has a full multi-disciplinary team, with a range of medical, nursing and therapeutic posts. The unit assesses and works with young people between the ages of 12 and 18 who live in South, Mid and West Wales and who are experiencing psychiatric disorders such as anorexia nervosa, clinical depression, self-harming behaviours and early onset psychosis. The post holder will be required to work with, and provide social, psychological and practical support to young people who have mental health needs. Our vision and strategy of the unit is based around 4 C\'s - Caring, Compassionate, Calm and Confident.
Responsibilities
* Key responsibilities include assisting the qualified nurse in providing individual care and treatment to patients and their families in a variety of settings, including the community.
* Work as part of a large multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of care and treatment for children and young people.
* Provide social, psychological and practical support to young people who have mental health needs.
* Be enthusiastic about team working, receive instruction, and work closely with qualified nursing staff to provide safe and effective care.
Qualifications and requirements
Along with the required experience and qualifications you will also need to be passionate about working with young people and their families. You will need to have a caring nature and be dedicated to spending time with the young people whilst supporting them in times of distress. You will also need to be enthusiastic about team working, able to receive instruction, whilst working closely with the qualified nursing staff in providing safe and effective care.
Welsh Skills: Desirable. This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This does not mean essential; it is an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This is not fluency, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Applicants who are not UK or Republic of Ireland nationals will require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care Visa or a Skilled Worker Visa unless they already hold permission to work via another route. Prospective applicants should self-assess their eligibility for sponsorship by visiting the UK Government\'s Work in the UK guidance. For eligible candidates, the Health and Care Visa offers reduced application costs and exempts payment of the annual Immigration Health Surcharge.
