Construction Tutor People Solutions are looking for a Construction Tutor – Wigan/Standish to join our client's team. This position is based within a Secondary SEN School and offers a part-time, flexible working pattern. This role requires someone professional, patient and confident delivering practical, hands-on learning to small groups of SEN students interested in pathways into the construction industry. Shifts • Monday & Wednesday (full or half-day options available) • 8:30am – 4:30pm • Part-time (2 days per week) Rates of Pay • £30 per hour • Weekly pay Benefits • Excellent hourly rates • Easy access by public transport • Canteen facilities • Free parking Day-to-Day Duties • Deliver two construction-based sessions per week, teaching introductory multi-skill construction techniques to SEN learners • Plan and deliver practical, safe and accessible lessons adapted to individual learning needs • Prepare and organise the learning environment, tools and resources prior to each session • Ensure all activities follow correct health & safety procedures and risk assessments • Monitor, record and report student progress, attendance and engagement • Work collaboratively with the school team to support consistent development across sites • Create a supportive, positive environment that builds confidence, resilience and employability skills Essential Skills • Previous experience delivering learning/training within an educational, vocational, or SEN environment • Strong multi-trade construction skillset (joinery, plumbing, brickwork, painting/decorating, general maintenance) • Ability to adapt communication for SEN learners • Strong organisational skills and ability to maintain a safe workspace • Professional, reliable and excellent interpersonal skills • Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check (supported if required) Desirable Experience • Teaching qualifications (QTS, QTLS, PTLLS or equivalent) • Previous experience working directly with SEN students • Experience delivering accredited or vocational programmes (AQA Unit Awards) Training Provided • Full site induction • Ongoing support from the school leadership team Apply If you are ready to take on this exciting opportunity, apply today or contact our recruitment team for more information.
