Are you a Senior Administrator looking for a new role, or an established Team Leader who is looking for a new challenge. This could be the role for you. We are looking for experienced Administration lead to manage a team of administrators and prescription clerks for a busy department. We need someone Positive, approachable, professional, and adaptable. Someone who will lead the teams development and be able to manage competing priorities.

The role is demanding and interesting and will require someone who is flexible and able to work under pressure. Previous experience of working in a general practice administration setting would be advantageous but not essential.

The role is 25 hours per week and can be done over a 4 or 5 day week, rota pattern below.

There are 2 options of work pattern:

4 day week:

Tuesday Day off

or 5 day week:


Main duties of the job

The Administration Lead provides operational and people leadership for the Administration and Prescription Team, ensuring the delivery of a safe, high-quality, efficient service to patients and clinicians across Beacon Medical Group and the PCN. The post holder will manage day-to-day service delivery, supervise and develop staff, monitor performance against KPIs, and ensure compliance with agreed policies, protocols, and timescales. The role requires a proactive, confident leader who can prioritise workload, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement with minimal supervision. The Administration Lead acts as the main point of contact for all matters relating to the Administration and Prescription Team and plays a key role in service development, governance, and patient safety.

Experience

* Experience of leading or supervising staff.
* Strong administration and customer service background.
* Ability to manage performance, KPIs, and appraisals.
* Experience working in a busy, time-pressured environment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong organisational, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of GDPR, data protection, and confidentiality requirements.
* Confident use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Experience in a healthcare or GP practice environment.
* Understanding of prescription processing systems and workflows.
* Experience with SystmOne or similar clinical systems.
* Experience supporting service change across multiple sites.


Qualifications

* NVQ level 3 in administration or equivalent experience, or substantial experience in similar role will be considered.
* Commitment to continual training as required
* Medical terminology qualification
* Level 3 in leadership or management
