Purpose of the Role
To deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment in Carpentry & Joinery (including both site and bench skills) to learners on full-time, part-time and apprenticeship programmes, helping them to achieve their qualifications and progress into employment or further study.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
*
Plan and deliver engaging lessons and practical workshops across Levels 1–3 (and relevant apprenticeships) in Carpentry & Joinery.
*
Create schemes of work, lesson plans, and resources in line with awarding-body specifications (City & Guilds or equivalent).
*
Embed English, Maths, digital skills, and health & safety within all teaching.
Assessment & Support
*
Set, mark, and assess student work, providing timely, constructive feedback.
*
Prepare learners for internal and external assessments, including end-point assessments (EPA) for apprentices.
*
Support individual learning needs, including learners with SEND or additional support needs.
Quality & Compliance
*
Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and achievement in line with college policies.
*
Participate in internal and external quality assurance and standardisation activities.
*
Follow safeguarding, Prevent, and health & safety requirements at all times.
Professional Development & Collaboration
*
Keep up to date with industry developments and curriculum changes.
*
Participate in CPD to maintain vocational and teaching skills.
*
Work collaboratively with colleagues, employers, and awarding organisations to maintain high standards of provision.
