Job Title: Cover Supervisor Location: Newcastle Salary: £100 – £130 per day (depending on experience) Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time Are you confident managing a classroom and supporting students’ learning? GSL Education are seeking reliable and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work in schools across Newcastle. As a Cover Supervisor (CS), you will supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged in their learning and that lessons run smoothly using the materials provided. Your Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor: Supervise classes across different subjects during teacher absences Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and ensure students stay on task Maintain a positive and focused classroom environment Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies Support students in completing their classwork and learning activities Provide guidance and assistance where needed during lessons Report any behavioural issues or concerns to relevant staff Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students Requirements of a Cover Supervisor: Experience working with children or young people is desirable Confidence in managing a classroom environment Strong communication and organisational skills The ability to follow lesson plans and instructions effectively A flexible and proactive approach to working in schools An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing a new application.
