The Band 7 Dietitian is responsible for providing dietetic support to adult, older adult, high support and rehabilitation patients in our mental health inpatient services in Bury, Rochdale and Oldham.
This is a fixed term post to provide cover for maternity leave.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the job are to
* Assess and monitor patients, offering therapeutic dietary advice and education to a range of patients within inpatient services
* Provide specialist nutritional and dietetic advice to medical, health care professionals and other agencies.
* Contribute to the nutrition and dietetic service as a whole through participation in service development
* Training for staff and patients to improve service delivery

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will be working as an independent specialist practitioner providing dietetic assessment and interventions across wards on several sites in three boroughs. You will utilize well developed communication skills to work effectively with patients, carers and multi professional teams at each site to ensure the best outcome for patients.
You will plan, deliver and evaluate informal and formal training to patients and staff. You will work collaboratively with other Trust dietitians and contribute to project, resource and policy development as appropriate.

Education/qualifications
Essential criteria
* BSc Nutrition & Dietetics plus short courses and experience to Master's level in relevant area OR BSc in relevant science subject plus post-graduate diploma/MSc in Nutrition & Dietetics/Dietetics plus post registration short courses and experience to Master's level in relevant area
* HCPC Registration
Desirable criteria
* Member of the British Dietetic Association
* Member of a special interest group
* Accredited BDA course in mental health / learning disabilities
* Basic clinical supervisory skills training
Experience
Essential criteria
* Relevant post registration clinical dietetic experience
* Experience of managing a dietetic case load
Desirable criteria
* Team working skills
* Experience of working with patients with mental health conditions and dementia
* Experience of enteral feeding
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Good knowledge of nutrition and dietetics and an understanding of the dietary management of common conditions requiring diet therapy
* Awareness of the HCPC Standards of conduct, performance and ethics and Standards of Proficiency

* Knowledge of different ethnic cultures and religions
