About Us
It is an exciting time to join Lambeth Council. We have bold ambitions for the future of Lambeth’s communities and residents through our Lambeth 2030 Plan “Our Future, Our Lambeth.” To deliver these ambitions, we are delivering the transformational One Lambeth Programme to ensure we are “connected by purpose” in everything we do to deliver excellence. We have developed a refreshed set of One Lambeth Values and Behaviours that were developed for staff by staff: Equity, Ambition, Kindness, and Accountability. For more information, please see our dedicated One Lambeth Values and Behaviours page.
About the Borough
Located in the heart of South London, Lambeth Borough is a vibrant community of over 317,600 residents. We are the 9th largest borough in London, with more than 130 languages spoken, and a diverse community including London’s Windrush generation, LGBTQ+ community, and a large Portuguese-speaking community. We offer excellent schools, green spaces, cultural venues, and world-renowned institutions.
About the Role
We are recruiting a Social Worker into a position in our Mental Health Service. The Adult Social Care Mental Health Service is part of the Living Well Network Alliance (LWNA), providing Mental Health services through an integrated delivery model with partners including South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, Certitude, Thames Reach and South London ICB. You will deliver a quality, responsive, safe, and person-centred service to support and promote the well-being of Lambeth residents. Safeguarding Adults is a key focus area, and staff are expected to commit to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable people. The role requires good organisational and communication skills and familiarity with current legislation and policies. Hours are Monday to Friday 9am–5pm (35 hours per week) or as the service requires.
We are seeking experienced Social Workers who are committed to working in Mental Health and towards achieving Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification (PO1–PO3). We will support you with professional development opportunities to help you build the career path you want. We offer a 35-hour week and a generous annual leave entitlement, season ticket loans, mileage, a cycle scheme, quality supervision, online journals and resources, and a generous retention package.
We especially encourage applications from people from Black, Asian and Multi-ethnic communities. While the role is open to all applicants, Lambeth will utilise the positive action provisions of the Equality Act 2010 to appoint a candidate from underrepresented groups when there is a choice between two candidates of equal merit.
