We’re working with a fast‑growing AI product company that is hiring a Tech Lead for LLM & Generative AI to take ownership of a conversation‑first product, where the chatbot is the core of the business not a supporting feature.

The Opportunity
This role sits at the heart of the client’s product. The successful hire will own how the conversational system behaves, scales, and evolves in production. You’ll be responsible for shaping model behaviour, improving quality through fine‑tuning, and ensuring the chat experience delivers real value to users at scale.
This is a hands‑on technical leadership role, suited to someone who has already been accountable for a chatbot‑driven product in a real user environment.
What the Client Is Looking For
The client is specifically looking for someone who:
* Has worked on a product where the chatbot was the core offering, not an add‑on or internal feature
* Has driven measurable business impact through a conversational AI product (engagement, retention, growth, quality, cost, reliability)
* Has hands‑on experience fine‑tuning LLMs to improve performance, behaviour, or alignment not just prompting or API usage
* Has owned systems end‑to‑end, from model decisions through to production performance
* Is comfortable making trade‑offs between prompting, fine‑tuning, and architectural changes
Background, sector, and company size matter far less than ownership, depth, and outcomes.
Responsibilities
* Technical ownership of a production conversational AI platform
* Designing and evolving the core chat loop (context, memory, retrieval, generation)
* Leading model fine‑tuning efforts to improve quality and user experience
* Owning the model lifecycle: evaluation, iteration, deployment, and rollback
* Addressing real‑world challenges around scale, latency, cost, and reliability
* Contributing hands‑on code while acting as a technical leader and mentor
Required Experience
* Strong hands‑on engineering background (Python essential)
* Proven experience delivering production LLM or conversational AI systems
* Direct fine‑tuning experience with large language models
* Experience working on products where user interaction with the chatbot is central
* A product‑driven mindset with clear examples of business impact

* Not a management‑only position removed from the code
