Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Manager
Location: Ruskington
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Employment Type: Permanent
Purpose of the Role: Support the Engineering Manager in transitioning from a reactive "repair culture" to a proactive "improvement culture" by managing day-to-day operations, enhancing equipment performance and reliability, and developing the technical skills of the team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team to deliver site and departmental objectives.
* Conduct regular team meetings and ensure effective communication using appropriate tools and methods.
* Coach team members to improve performance and encourage behavioural change.
* Ensure prompt and effective breakdown cover and resolution of equipment issues.
* Maintain site standards for hygiene, safety, technical compliance, and aesthetics.
* Execute maintenance-related safety responsibilities in line with corporate and legal requirements.
* Promote a safety-first culture across the site.
* Oversee planned maintenance to maximize plant efficiency and minimize downtime.
* Ensure machinery safety, including guarding and statutory testing.
* Manage contractors and ensure safe systems of work are followed.
* Maintain building fabric and ensure audit readiness.
* Manage Digitrack system and coordinate with Technical teams.
* Support production targets through technical problem-solving and continuous improvement.
* Maintain adequate stock of machinery spares for routine and emergency needs.
* Coordinate preventative maintenance and document environmental performance activities.
* Monitor and measure site utilities against KPIs.
* Ensure SOPs and Risk Assessments are current and reviewed regularly.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lean thinking techniques.
* Support team development, succession planning, and personal growth.
* Apply company policies consistently, including grievance and disciplinary procedures.
* Ensure compliance with Working Time Directive.
* Perform additional duties as assigned, aligned with skills and capabilities.
Skills & Knowledge
* 1-2 years of management or supervisory experience.
* Strong understanding of legal and safety requirements (e.g., Duty Holder, safe systems of work, permits to work, HSE).
* Ability to coach, lead, and develop a team.
* Experience in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
Qualifications
* HNC or equivalent in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering.
* NEBOSH Certificate in Health & Safety (or working towards).
