We are looking for enthusiastic and keen assistant psychologists to join us at Rivington Unit as part of the psychological offer to our acute psychiatric inpatient wards.
The post holder will join an evolving acute service where low-intensity psychological interventions are a key priority. The role is suitable for someone interested in working with individuals experiencing significant mental health difficulties.

The Trust collaborates with the Psychological Therapies Training Centre (formerly CBT Training Centre and Salford Cognitive Therapy Training Centre), established in 2000 as part of Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH), to provide placements and training in cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).
Main duties of the job
This role is suitable for someone interested in delivering low-intensity psychological interventions both individually and in groups.
Responsibilities include facilitating psychologically informed groups on the wards, delivering these groups independently, encouraging multidisciplinary team engagement, ensuring resource materials are available, assisting with assessments using self-report measures, rating scales, neuropsychological tests, and semi-structured interviews under supervision.
Under clinical supervision, you will implement time-limited psychological interventions, document clinical records, contribute to report and letter writing, participate in multidisciplinary meetings, liaise with families, carers, staff, and other agencies, and assist in planning psychological interventions based on assessments.

Band
Shift patterns include Saturday (midnight to midnight), any weekday after 8pm and before 6am, and all hours on Sundays and Public Holidays (midnight to midnight).

Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
* Minimum 2:1 degree in psychology or equivalent qualification/experience.
* Experience working with individuals with severe mental health problems.
* Short courses in therapy such as CBT, CFT.
* Experience delivering psychological interventions to clients with severe mental health issues.
Knowledge
* Interpersonal skills to engage with staff and clients with complex needs.
* Effective communication skills.
