Role
You will be responsible for designing and building electro-mechanical components and assemblies while integrating our products into EV & storage applications.
What you’ll be doing:
* Design and development of electro-mechanical components and assemblies for a range of applications including electric vehicles.
* Support designs and projects through their full life cycle, from initial concepts through to release and production.
* Contributing to the design of new products and components while collaborating with other departments.
* Using rapid manufacturing methods in house and externally to deliver prototype units.
* Communicating and coordinating with external manufacturing suppliers to deliver initial products.
You will report directly to your line manager whilst also working closely with the wider team to ensure that milestones are hit and business plan achieved, on-time and to budget. Your contributions will ultimately build towards successful on-board trials of Gaussion’s fast charging technology in electric vehicles.
Skills and Requirements:
* Experience in rapid prototyping using additive 3D manufacturing processes (FDM, SLA).
* Able to defend decisions and designs with first principle calculations.
* Experience in design for manufacture methodologies and practice.
* Strong proficiency with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks and CATIA V5/6, and PLM processes in 3DExperience.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent industrial experience.
Bonus points if you have:
* Experience with some form of simulations, e.g. FEA, CFD.
* Experience in designing test jigs and fixtures.
* Experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis and stack ups.
* Understanding of EV battery safety and high voltage packaging principles.
