This is a rare opening for a Messaging Applications Engineer to join a long-established programme supporting secure communications systems within a highly sensitive environment. This role offers the chance to contribute to a system modernisation initiative later this year. The Role: Operating as part of a close-knit engineering team, the successful candidate will provide 3rd line support for legacy messaging systems. Responsibilities include incident and problem management, system monitoring, root cause investigations, and liaising with stakeholders via an intermediary. Key Responsibilities: Perform triage, incident logging, and resolution using internal toolsets Investigate and resolve issues across legacy messaging platforms including Nexor X500 DSA and Exchange 2003 Collaborate with internal stakeholders and security-cleared customer intermediaries Contribute to the wider system modernisation programme Key Skills & Experience: Experience with legacy messaging technologies such as X.400/X.500 Familiarity with SMTP, address book replication, or Nexor DSA UNIX or HP-UX scripting experience Experience with Oracle (8-10g), Solaris 10, or Exchange 2003 (or willingness to learn) Backgrounds in Windows or Linux infrastructure are equally valued Ideal for those with experience maintaining address book data or performing structured data imports/cleansing Desirable (or willing to learn): Microsoft Server 2003, Active Directory, VMware (v5/v5.5), and ITIL practices Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 37 hours per week within a shift pattern (08:00 - 18:00) Potential part-time options for experienced candidates Clearance Requirement: Due to the nature of the environment, candidates must be sole British nationals and eligible for DV clearance.
