Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP)
This role is a part‑time contract (22.5 hours per week) at the NHS AfC Band 5 level. The post holder will work within the Talking Therapy service at Crouch End Health Centre, Haringey, on a mixture of remote and clinic days.
Job Overview
We need a qualified, or soon‑to‑be qualified, PWP to provide evidence‑based, low‑intensity psychological therapy to adults with mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression. The role includes individual therapy, group facilitation, and supports to patients and families as part of an integrated primary care pathway.
Main Responsibilities
* Under supervision manage a caseload of clients with mild‑to‑moderate anxiety/depression referred by GPs, other professionals or self‑referrals.
* Support and facilitate patient referrals to other services as appropriate.
* Deliver brief evidence‑based interventions using guided self‑help methods.
* Ensure practice is patient‑focused, responsive, culturally competent and sensitive.
* Assist with running self‑help groups, activities and use of mental‑health resources.
* Maintain accurate records in line with Trust guidelines, data protection and confidentiality.
* Collect data relevant to performance outcomes and audit findings.
* Identify own training needs, keep professional knowledge updated, and participate in staff development and appraisal systems.
* Adhere to Clinical Governance policies and contribute to policy development.
Person Specification – Education and Qualifications
* Degree in psychology or a related discipline.
* Holding a Talking Therapies approved post‑graduate qualification in Low‑Intensity Psychological Therapies.
Person Specification – Experience and Skills
* Experience as a PWP or PWP trainee in a Talking Therapies service, delivering low‑intensity interventions to primary‑care clients.
* Knowledge of mental‑health issues and experience of brief solution‑focused interventions for adults with mild‑to‑moderate emotional difficulties.
* Experience working in a multicultural setting and with other agencies, statutory and voluntary.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Well‑organised, proactive in learning new computer skills, and able to secure relevant health‑information for assessment.
* Innovative thinking and commitment to continual professional development.
