Position Overview
An opportunity to join an experienced, versatile team delivering first‑class support services to the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory at Porton Down. Previous security‑cleared personnel are particularly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide a welcoming reception facility, greeting all visitors and handling general enquiries.
* Control personnel access, issue and secure entry passes, and maintain signatory logs for keys.
* Monitor building services and security alarms, and implement emergency procedures when required.
* Liaise with security staff, Building Manager, Health & Safety Coordinators, and support teams for facility management.
* Oversee personal security boxes and enforce mobile phone usage policy in reception.
* Maintain and update reception area noticeboards.
* Perform routine and reactive maintenance on audio‑visual equipment.
* Manage the meeting room booking system, posting booking details on room doors.
* Prepare room set‑ups (seating, tables, AV, and other conferencing equipment).
* Monitor and maintain the PSP Innovation Hub Activity Record.
* Ensure all activities comply with Health and Safety regulations and GDPR requirements.
* Provide ad hoc support to porters, mail delivery, security escorts, and other Mitie team members as needed.
Qualifications And Requirements
* Maths and English to GCSE standard (or equivalent).
* Proven proficiency with workplace IT systems and standard office software.
* First Aider trained / or willing to be trained.
* Experience in conferencing, telepresence and event‑style management.
* Working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
* Physically fit and able to handle occasional manual tasks on a daily basis.

Additional Information
* MOD security clearance and DBS Standard required.
* Proof of right to work in UK essential.
* The contract operates a 37.5 hour working week requiring an element of flexible output during the overarching service hours of 0730 and 1630 Monday to Thursday and 1600 on Friday only.
* Required to wear approved company work wear.
