Senior Platform Engineer | Linux, Kubernetes, GPUs, Bare-Metal Systems | Biotech Scaleup Join a groundbreaking biotech scale-up working at the frontier of biological data mapping and commercialising protein systems discovered in some of the most extreme environments on Earth. Their technology has applications from cold-wash laundry pods to next-gen therapeutics, and they’re growing fast. The tech team sits at the interface of biology and compute: they’ve got 45 people globally (30 in the UK in a cool office in Farringdon), with 18 in tech and a lean but powerful Platform Engineering function of 3. You’ll be stepping into a hands-on senior role to support, scale and maintain their Linux Server, and GPU-rich on-premise infrastructure. All orchestrated by Kubernetes, Terraform and Ansible. Essential experience: Linux (Ubuntu) systems background Strong Kubernetes experience, ideally at a CKA level understanding of clusters, nodes, and resources Experience working with on-prem or hybrid infrastructure, and an understanding of GPU compute is very beneficial Scripting in Python or Go, Terraform or Ansible or other leading IaC experience Comfortable with multiple cloud concepts but not reliant on cloud-native tooling (AWS/Azure only used for backup, redundancy and global access) Hands-on, pragmatic, and excited about enabling research that pushes the boundaries of biology What you'll be doing: Managing and scaling a 95% on-prem estate (50 physical servers, including some powerful nodes with H200 NVIDIA Hopper GPUs) Building and operating Kubernetes clusters on bare metal (no virtualisation) Using tools like NVIDIA Base Command Manager to maximise compute efficiency Supporting internal users with deployment, monitoring and performance tuning Automating infrastructure with Terraform and Ansible Collaborating closely with the scientific, data and engineering teams to integrate new workloads Why this is cool: You'll work with real scientists and explorers, and the data comes from ice caps, volcanic springs, and deep-sea vents It’s deep-tech for a reason: every system you build supports real-world biological discovery Tech decisions are pragmatic and performance-driven, with no red tape and no compliance bureaucracy The offer: Share options Private health insurance (AXA) Generou holiday; 5.7 weeks holiday Christmas shutdown birthday day off Ongoing development budget Hybrid working (most people do 3-4 days in the London office, with flexibility) Senior Platform Engineer | Linux, Kubernetes, GPUs, Bare-Metal Systems | Biotech Scaleup
