As a Senior Information Assurance Manager, you will lead the Data Assurance Team responsible for overseeing data governance and assurance activities on DVLA's data customers. You will manage a portfolio of customers requesting electronic access to DVLA data, ensuring that assurance processes and risk profiling are effectively carried out in line with the Agency's Data Sharing Strategy.
You will also coordinate assurance activities conducted by the Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA) on DVLA's behalf and monitor data customers' access, use, and retention of information to ensure compliance. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying trends and areas of non-compliance across industries and services, driving continuous improvement within the team and maintaining high standards of data integrity and security.

Job description
Your responsibilities will include, but aren't limited to:
* Leading the delivery of compliance and assurance activities for all DVLA data customers, ensuring that all contractual compliance activities are effectively managed and coordinated.
* Providing expert advice, guidance, and direction on the appropriate handling, use, and security of DVLA data.
* Acting as a key contact for the Agency's Complaints, FOI, and Ministerial teams in managing data release–related correspondence, investigations, and complaints. You will identify, raise, and resolve any assurance issues in a timely manner.
* Managing and supporting a team of Data Assurance Compliance Officers, fostering professional development and ensuring high standards of performance and delivery.
* Coordinating the delivery of contractual compliance activities conducted by the Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA) on behalf of DVLA, ensuring effective communication and intelligence sharing across data customer portfolios.

Person specification
We are looking for proactive leaders with proven experience working within a compliance and assurance environment.
You will be confident managing a challenging workload and balancing competing priorities, while maintaining strong attention to detail. You'll be able to think ahead to anticipate, identify, and address risks or problems before they arise.
You will have experience in analysing information and using sound judgement to assess risks, propose pragmatic solutions, and take a balanced, evidence-based approach to your work.
We're also looking for someone who promotes collaboration, encourages teamwork, and builds effective working relationships across colleagues and stakeholders.
Above all, you'll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to engage confidently with people at all levels.
Finally, you'll demonstrate the ability to handle and monitor sensitive information with the highest level of confidentiality.
Additional Information
Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements
Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week.
Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 32 hours per week.
This role is suitable for hybrid working, and therefore a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements. Hybrid working is a non-contractual arrangement where employees have the flexibility to work remotely combined with a minimum of 60% of their working time a month at either their principal workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, visiting stakeholders and colleagues, or carrying out detached duty in another VCA workplace. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
