Mental Health Support Teaching Assistant – Gloucester, Gloucestershire
Location: Gloucester, Gloucestershire | Immediate Start | SEN School | Full Time 8:30am-3:30pm | Salary: £85-£95 per day
Based in a well-respected SEN school environment, you will work closely and collaboratively with students, teachers, teaching assistants, and mental health professionals to provide tailored support that promotes emotional resilience, psychological and emotional well-being, and academic success. The role mainly involves 1:1 and small group support for students diagnosed with mental health issues to develop coping mechanisms, build confidence in and out of the classroom, and thrive in all settings. This could be a fantastic opportunity for any Psychology Graduate, an aspiring educational psychologist, a support worker, or a SEN teacher.
Responsibilities
* Provide empathetic and regular emotional support to students experiencing mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, and OCD.
* Help to deliver wellbeing and mental health interventions.
* Collaborate with teachers, mental health counselors, and parents to create a learning plan.
* Measure and monitor students’ progress.
* Create a safe school atmosphere with an optimistic attitude.
Experience and Qualifications
* Previous experience working with children is vital.
* Previous experience working with children with mental health issues is beneficial.
* Safeguarding training is required due to the nature of the role and complex needs.
* A degree is desirable and Level 3 qualifications are required.
