Role Overview
The Head of Dietetics reports to the Divisional Director of Allied Health Professions and is accountable for the operational management and professional leadership of Dietetics within the division.
Key Responsibilities
* Guide, coach and mentor the hospital site Therapy & Dietetic leads to ensure day‑to‑day delivery of services.
* Oversee delegated responsibility for Dietetic budgets, maintaining financial balance and supporting efficiency savings and business cases.
* Implement systems and processes that support the quality and safety of patient care.
* Provide professional leadership across UHSx, supporting strategic goals, resolving operational pressures and reducing variation.
* Ensure accurate activity data, delivery of KPIs, statutory compliance, and production of monthly performance reports.
* Deliver high‑quality, safe, efficient dietetic care and contribute to wider public health initiatives.
* Promote distributive leadership, coaching and mentoring to develop a diverse, values‑driven workforce.
* Support achievement of clinical, operational and quality targets, chair governance meetings and assure robust governance, best practice and effective systems.
* Provide out‑of‑hours professional leadership and participate in on‑call duties.
* Influence clinical and operational decisions as part of the senior AHP leadership team.
* Contribute to performance indicators that drive flow, sustainability and continuous improvement.
* Build partnerships within the Trust and regional/national networks, supporting integrated care priorities, improved discharge pathways, reduced admissions and potential 7‑day service models.
* Lead the development of new care models and pathways aligned to population needs.

This is primarily a management‑focused position with responsibilities agreed in the job plan.
