Be part of a vital team during an exciting period of development, working with us to meet the needs of children and young people aged 11 to 16 who struggle to manage in mainstream settings and need alternative educational options to secure their successful next steps.


About the Role

Role Overview: This role is to lead the Behaviour, Attendance, Pastoral, and Belonging strategy in the Secondary phase. You will create provisions that deliver flexible, holistic, and trauma-informed education and interventions to increase engagement and improve each student's educational outlook. You will be at the heart of our mission. The role suits an experienced leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can inspire others. Many of our young people present with challenging behaviour, and we seek someone with strong empathy and the ability to connect intrinsically with pupils with complex SEMH needs, leading staff to deliver educational support that overcomes barriers and re-engages students with their peers.


Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and Inspire: Strategically plan, implement strategies, and lead teams within a large, complex setting across different geographical areas.
2. Support Reintegration: Create systems for reintegrating pupils into mainstream schools, ensuring they receive necessary support and skills.
3. Collaborate with Agencies: Work closely with educational psychologists, school leaders, SEN coordinators, and external agencies to support pupil progress.
4. Accountability: Develop and implement school-level accountabilities and analyze strategy impact internally and externally.
5. Promote Inclusion: Demonstrate a commitment to inclusion, ensuring all pupils feel valued and supported.

Qualifications and Experience:

* Several years of leadership experience in a secondary setting; NPQ qualification is preferable.
* Experience working with pupils with special educational needs in secondary schools, referral units, or special schools.
* Experience leading Pastoral, Attendance, and Behaviour teams.
* Experience working with challenging pupils.
* Experience in educational development and planning.
* Ability to provide strategic direction on pastoral, attendance, and behaviour issues.
* Knowledge of SEN legislation and local policies.
