About the role
Coventry Building Society have an exciting new role for a Release Train Engineer, to work across our Data Portfolio. Following the Co-operative Bank officially becoming part of our Group, we need to ensure successful integration of the two organisations. This role is pivotal in making this happen.
You’ll orchestrate delivery of multiple change initiatives, be working with a mixture of both dedicated and shared resources across technology and the business; and help coach teams within an Agile Release Train (ART) to deliver significant business outcomes in a dynamic environment that embraces new ways of working and continuous improvement. This also extends to working with more traditional programmatic portfolios to deliver joint outcomes.
The Release Train Engineer will also participate in the Lean-Agile transformation, coaching leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in the new processes and mindsets. Managing and optimising the flow of value using various tools, agile management practices and DevOps ways of working. Additionally, the Release Train Engineer will manage effective Agile Release Train (ART) ceremonies and practices, such as PI Planning, and Syncs, ensuring they deliver expected outcomes that drive relentless improvement.

About you
You’ll be an expert agile practitioner with clear appreciation and experience of agile scaling frameworks, you will be conversant with both Waterfall and Agile Methodologies and techniques and how they can work harmoniously together as complimentary concepts. You will have demonstrable experience of leading trains to delivery business prioritised outcomes and continuous improvement of Train performance. As an experienced facilitator you’ll ensure every Agile Release Train (ART) ceremony delivers the expected outcomes, whilst juggling multiple tasks to deliver on time.
To be successful in this role, it’s essential that you’re able to demonstrate:
7. The successful candidate will have previous experience with delivering and leading teams within a Data led context
8. You’ll find solutions to delivery problems and issues, Identifying and mitigating risks & dependencies at a train level, proactively contributing to management & identification of risks at a Portfolio level.
9. As a person of integrity, you’ll recognises conflicts and issues early and enable the right conversations toward a solution.
10. With experience across Waterfall and Agile adaptive delivery models and mindsets, a track record of operating effectively and delivering consistent results in a large complex business.
11. You’ll have significant program management and technology delivery experience, relating to major IT and/or Business programs, with the ability to work strategically to support the shaping of future work and resource your train appropriately within agreed cost budgets
12. You’ll be an accomplished communicator that can deliver clear succinct messaging to all levels of the organisation, an excellent negotiator who can work with multiple parties to achieve alignment.
13. A confident stakeholder manager with experience of working with and influencing internal stakeholders, at all levels of the organisation, as well as external stakeholders, and provisioned resources from partner organisations.
Desirable skills for this role are:
14. Be a people developer and coach, with the ability to listen, take ideals from your team and stakeholders and shield the team from external interference to create the space for optimal productivity and delivery.
