We are seeking a Lead Building Surveyor to join our dynamic Property team. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of ABP’s built environment across a diverse and complex national estate. Reporting to the Group Head of Property, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering strategic change and technical excellence across our portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the delivery of building surveying services across a multi-site commercial and operational estate.
* Set and monitor best practice in the management of dilapidations, providing expert advice and guidance.
* Oversee the Reinstatement Cost Assessment process, including managing external suppliers and preparing desktop assessments.
* Ensure compliance and best practice in the procurement, registration, and management of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs).
* Manage and support the procurement of external building surveying and project management consultants.
* Deliver clear, insightful reports on project progress, risks, and exceptions to senior stakeholders.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver high-impact projects on time and within budget.
* Upskill regional teams and educate the wider business on surveying-related risks and opportunities.

To be Considered

* Chartered professional (MRICS, RIBA, or CIOB) with 5+ years post-qualification experience (PQE).
* Significant experience in building surveying within a large, complex, or multi-site organisation.
* Proven track record of delivering change and driving continuous improvement across property portfolios.
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyse costs, negotiate contracts, and manage consultants.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
* Knowledge of contract forms, procurement processes, and the implementation of management systems.

This is a high-impact, client-side role for a technically strong and strategically minded building surveyor who’s ready to lead from the front and make a lasting contribution to one of the UK’s most vital infrastructure networks.
