The role
Responsibilities
* Lead a team and produce technically sound engineering solutions.
* Take ownership and lead projects from quotation preparation to handover.
* Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation that meet quality, cost and programme criteria.
* Oversee junior staff and take responsibility for their actions.
* Contribute to junior staff professional development and act as a Delegated Engineer.
* Liaise with clients and suppliers at peer level, attend progress meetings and respond to queries.
* Manage a small, locally based technical team and ensure delivery of their workload.
* Contribute to bid preparation and the general work-winning function.
* Drive effective health and safety practices within the team.
What You Will Bring
* Developed experience and expertise in Structures, likely gained in an Engineer role or equivalent.
* Ability to produce or oversee technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant standards and client requirements.
* Ownership of deliverable preparation and checking to a reasonable standard.
* Strong knowledge of relevant software and analytical tools (e.g. LUSAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design).
* Good commercial awareness.
* Understanding of CDM and risk assessment.
* Experience in managing and communicating hazards and risks, applying risk mitigation and transference.
* Understanding of interface management and alignment with other disciplines.
* Incorporated or Chartered status with the ICE or IstructE (or similar), which is desirable or may be essential.
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning.
