SEND Learning Support Assistant, Bridgewater
Full Time | Long Term Opportunity
TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist SEND provision in Bridgewater that is looking to recruit a SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA) / SEN Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis.
This welcoming and supportive setting provides education for children and young people aged 4–19 with a range of additional needs, including:
Autism (ASC / ASD)
Communication and interaction needs
Learning differences
Sensory and developmental needs
The provision offers small class sizes, personalised learning, and a structured environment where pupils are supported to build communication skills, independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, helping them access classroom activities, follow routines, and develop key life and learning skills.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND
Assist pupils with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
Support the delivery of structured learning activities
Use visual supports and routines to help pupils access learning
Encourage independence and confidence in daily tasks
Work closely with teachers and other support staff to meet pupils’ needs
Support personal care where required
The Ideal SEND Learning Support Assistant Will Have
A patient, calm, and nurturing approach
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
Confidence supporting pupils with autism or communication needs
Experience in SEND, care work, youth work, support work, or education (desirable but not essential)
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A driving licence (highly desirable due to location)
